We reserve the right to decline a donation based on these guidelines.
we accept:
Books in good condition
No mold/excessive dust (if it’s been in your basement untouched for years, it likely falls in this category)
No water damage/animal droppings
Decent spine/cover condition (No missing covers, torn spine where you can’t read the title, etc)
Audiobooks
Audiobooks on CD and complete encyclopedia sets are accepted.
Reusable bags
Tote shopping/drawstring style used bags in good condition.
Special book needs
Westerns
Children’s board books
Children’s graphic novels
NO magazines

Every day in countless ways, Embrace Books touches lives in the Muskegon community. From helping a 103-year-old woman stay sharp and alert until the day she died to supporting literacy in underserved schools, Embrace Books is about more than just giving books for free to the community—it’s about fostering connections, encouraging learning, and providing the resources to open up the world through reading and books. But we could not do it without your support, which makes a difference in all we do.
As Embrace Books looks to celebrate its 10th anniversary, it’s time to start looking to the future and what needs to happen to allow this vital community resource to continue to serve the Muskegon area. On the wish list is the biggest reason for fundraising: A brick-and-mortar space that will allow not only for an expansion of available books, but also a space to connect with the community through workshops, reading time, and other offerings.
